How I Learned To Code

2/25/2019 - Category: coding, research,

I'm often asked how and why I learned to code, especially because it is quite different from my first career

After spending years in the incredibly inefficient music industry (and despite getting tons of awards), I needed to embrace a refreshing activity. After some research, I developed a passion for stock trading. I actually started to learn how to code by coding automated trading systems.

Creating something that can perform thousands of daily tasks for you is priceless. Programming is embracing the idea of being a problem solver. It takes constant research.

Here's some of my programming mentors and what I ended up creating after studying with them.

  • Sunny Harris (finance, TradeStation's EasyLanguage). Studying with Sunny helpt me to create this,
  • Daniel Shiffman (Javascript), maybe the best coding teacher on youtube? His educational videos led me to code this instant payment proof of concept educational video game (must be played on a computer),
  • Colt Steele (front end/back end, Javascript, Html, CSS). After finishing a 50 hours course with Colt, I was able to code this website from scratch. It was also absolutely key in helping me entirely coding a web application for HyperloopTT, from scratch to fully deployed!
  • Hadelin De Ponteves (Blockchain & Ai, Python)

I've also been working a lot with Google App Script (quite similar to Javascript). I created these automated social media reports.

Some of the courses I took so far:
